Mrs. Kelsi Miller is excited to be joining the Westlake High School family this year! Mrs. Miller’s dreamed from a young age to be a choir director hoping to inspire students to love music. She grew up in Watauga, TX, just outside of Fort Worth, where she attended school in Birdville ISD. Her experience in the 7th grade region choir changed her life, and after that experience, she began her path forward to be a choir director. While in high school, Mrs. Miller was a part of many musicals, show choirs, and choral ensembles. She was a. member of the Texas All-State Choir Women’s and Mixed Choirs during her junior and senior years respectively. Mrs. Miller attended Texas Tech University, majoring in Music Education. During her time at Texas Tech, she worked as a private voice teacher in several middle and high schools throughout Lubbock ISD. Mrs. Miller stayed at Texas Tech to complete her Master Degree in Music Education, and graduated in 2016.

For the past 5 years, Mrs. Miller has lived in Chicago within walking distance of Wrigley Field. For the first 3 years, she taught music in West Aurora, IL, where she directed the choir and traveled to perform at the Chicago Wolves hockey games. For the remaining 2 years, Mrs. Miller taught music in Schiller Park, IL. She directed the choirs and co-directed the school’s musical productions.  While in Chicago, Mrs. Miller entered the competition Big Break Chicago and was named one of the top 10 finalists.

When she is not teaching, Mrs. Miller spends her time with her husband, Austin, and their cat, Remington. The Millers love to attend Cubs games, try new restaurants, and be outside as much as they can. Mrs. Miller is grateful for her time in Chicago but is very excited about returning to her home state to be close her family and begin her new journey as a Chap!
